What person in their right mind voluntarily goes out for hours on end in order to get dirty, hot, sweaty, burned (wind, me dears, NOT sun), scratched, bitten, stung, blistered (fingers) and end up aching all over?
And yet here we are in love with and possibly addicted to our gardens...out of all proportion to their beauty or usefulness!
Is there any other sport, hobby or activity which causes such bodily discomfort and damage for so little material gain????
Flowering montbretia on the driveway. |
Boring old day lily, but so beautiful while they last. |
This has a lovely yellow flower, but I can't remember what it is called, apparently I've been calling it the wrong name for years so of course I cannot get the correct name into my head now! |

Ah, now, gardening doesn't hold the same allure for me, I really can't be bothered with it, but I love to look at a well made and maintained garden. Is your mystery plant a Rose of Sharon?
Keeping the garden looking good does take a bit of time and, as you say, can be painful, but I really do want to have the flowers blooming all around me. What I need is a gardener or two, or perhaps a wee leprechaun to keep things tidy for me.....
Well I just had a lovely visit To your garden and didn't get scratched, bitten, or burnt at all, lol. If you want a change if scene you can come and tame the jungle that is my garden!
All the aches and pains are so worth it in the end!
