Good'n'Bad

Doctor's appointment this morning. Much as I like and respect my Doc, I hate people wandering around inside my head so it was a bit wearing. So she's doubled the meds, which is as far as its possible to go, and is sending me to see someone in a few months probably. More head poking-eeeww...

Wouldn't it be great to unzip the top of one's head, take out the dodgy contents, leave them for poking at and come back when the White-Coats have finished and put it back all cured...sounds like a side of pork, huh!!

Or if there was a little window in one's forehead and they could look inside and say, 'Oh I see the problem!' and with a woggle of a screw-driver and a thwack of a spanner fix me.

Ideas for the future! And no, I do not be volunteering to be guinea-pigged!


And now for the EXCITING stuff: The Rabbits, Brer and Little Grey, funded a laptop for yours' truly here, and it ARRIVED THIS MORNING!!

I tell yous, I think I'm in love!!

I've spent the afternoon setting up/ activating/ fiddling/ and generally getting acquainted with my new friend, and its such fun! No one can tell me to shunt, or go away, or move over, for any reason, because THIS machine is MINE!!!!!!!!!

Outside is grey and wet...in the kitchen is burnt potatoes courtesy of Eldest...the hall is reverberating with Youngest's attack on my poor piano...but me? I'm lolloping and frolicking around the Internet with a big grin on my face!!

January's Stashbustin' !

In case the post title has muddled you, here in the West of Ireland it is still January! See, told you we live at a different pace!

And, as titles go, its not as odd as some you meet:

such as Tricia's 'My Darling Loves Chicken Thing',

or Liv's 'Quilt All Smushed'.

...and while we're on the subject, do stop and admire Liv's quilts, aren't they gor-gee-ous?

And Tricia has another great idea for a new Mail Art Swap using old images...

Anyhow, to business!

Here are some of my Stashbustin' projects from January:

...some puffy hearts and a potholder...

...a baby quilt which I sold...(yippee!!)

...and a notebook wallet, an experiment in Cloth Collage which actually worked!

There were other projects as well, mats, coasters, a tea cosy (of which I forgot to take photos before giving as a present), another Cloth Collage...

So, after some frantic hammering at my dodgy old calculator I conclude that from my Stash I used:

4 and a quarter yards of fabric

half a yard of recycled batting (felted wool jersey and blanket)

I pyjama leg

and 1 shirt sleeve.

On the flip side of that:

I bought a total of 19 fat quarters...oops!

Better luck next month, hey?

Next question: do I tell Ulla??????

Texting and Mail Art (or was that Male Heart?)

A texting conversation I overheard on Thursday went like this:


Text incoming: They are playing the 'Gladiator' soundtrack in the Bank!

Text outgoing: Don't be flashing your sword at the cashiers. They won't like it.

Text incoming: Was tempted but I refrained.

Text outgoing: Whew!

Text incoming: Indeed they escaped with their lives!



Hmmm...Whatever blows your hair back, I guess!

I just thought doodling on envelopes was a teenager thing, which everyone does, and then grows out of. But no! Its an Art Form! and...

PS. I just spent this evening doing mine, and of course they're fabulous...actually they are not! My ever reprehensible sense of humour got the better of me and they are just plain daft!

And, fyi (getting used to the teenager lingo-speak, here!), this week I aim to figure out how to work the folk's scanner. Yez all seem to do so many clever things with scanners I thought I should join the fray!


And another thing (there always is, sigh...); you know the way they say that if you do a thing for one month it will become habit and will stay with you?

Well, does that go for existing on liquid and mush instead of proper food?
By the time the phantom earache is sorted, a month will have passed, during which I'll be gurgling the intake!

Hmmm...

But one advantage is that by then there might be a bit less of Yours Truly, WobbleBottom Extraordinaire.

And that, mes amigos, would be A GOOD THING!
