On Thursday after supper, Eldest, Youngest and I were hanging out in the kitchen. I was sitting on the sofa knitting, Youngest was experimenting with a new chocolate cake recipe, and Eldest was in a lot of pain and trying to distract herself by reading but holding the book was too difficult so she was sitting at the table.
Result was that no one actually did what they intended, but did we have a party!!
The girls got to discussing comedy and, because I couldn't be bothered watching the You Tube episodes of what they were discussing, they started enacting it...people pay to see Eldest in action and here's me with a free viewing!!!
The pair of them 'took off' comedians, did skits, fenced, sassed each other, played bits of films, spilt chocolate batter, danced and sang and roared laughing at themselves for about an hour and a half- it was the most hilarious free show!
The chocolate cake was eventually got into the oven, the book was rescued from under the table, Eldest retrieved her slippers from the Fluffster Dog who was chewing them, and Youngest started in on the frosting. At this point things became rather heated as one wanted chocolate icing and the other wanted coffee, so they compromised with mocha.
Unfortunately Hoover Dog got a bit overexcited with all the activity and started chasing his tail, whereupon he got a paw tangled in the phone cable and knocked it off the desk. The clatter startled him so he raced under the table, taking the phone with him and wrapping the cable around Eldest's legs too. Youngest dived for the broadband box-thing before it hit the floor, forgetting to let go of the utensils she was holding...and sent mocha icing all over the Hub's desk, the broadband yoke, phone, floor, etc etc...
Well, as you can tell, she saved the broadband, the dogs cleaned up the spilled icing, and the flex was untangled, but...the excitement wasn't yet over!!!...
Despite the icing mishap, there was still enough to over-ice the middle of the cake, and as she stood back to admire her work, the top layer slid slowly sideways, cracked in half and departed off the plate in opposite directions!!
Plate tectonics 101!!!
Both girls and Hoover dog tried to rescue it, the girls winning by a very small margin!
Eventually I got a chopstick and speared one side of the cake to keep it together in order to spare Youngest's anguish, whilst they started eating the other side, aided by their father who arrived home from work at the crucial moment, for some reason doing a Johnny Cash impersonation and singing 'Ring of Fire' at full throttle! (well its better than Elvis and 'Jailhouse Rock' which is another of his...)
Another quiet evening....not!!!

The End of a Perfect Day!
This is what the Cathedral looked like this morning- and its much like how I FELT!
BBug and friends condescended to be collected from their function at 3am (courtesy of the Hub's endurance) and Sos' lot arrived by taxi soon after 6am...BBug's friends had sore feet from all the dancing and decided to soak them...
When I returned from Church (Palm Sunday folks!) I served late breakfast, which ran into lunch, which ran into tea! I think there were 14 young people in total, but its hard to count when they mill around and swarm! They all went and climbed the nearest hill during the afternoon to work up an appetite (I hadn't noticed it waning to be honest...), and just talked for Ireland. For me it was completely painless and very entertaining to hear all the chit-chat!

Flip! It's Friday!
I considered just posting my 'to do' list for today, but I was afraid you'd be so disgusted by what that would demonstrate about my housekeeping that you'd all disappear into the ether for good!
So neither will I post any photos!
Suffice to say that with five of BBug's friends spending the day here tomorrow and then returning late for a sleepover, and about ten of Sos's friends sleeping over Saturday night and spending Sunday, a good CLEANING is in order...including floorspace for bodies.
When I go to do the shopping I forgot I've to borrow pans and casserole dishes from Mom as it seems there could be upwards of twenty to Sunday lunch, and you know how much food gets put away at a gathering!! It'll be Sos's 19th birthday on Sunday and you'll never guess the cake design she wants...A PINK HANDBAG!!
And on that note, I'd better get going!
Don't forget to enter the Inspiring Music Challenge- I am so enjoying listening to your choices, thank you so much!
Oh and if you're a facebook person will you consider joining my Group please? Or become a friend...or both! I'm at facebook.com/heckety.beck.
PS. If there is an unearthly silence from this blog for several days, just open your windows and listen to know all's well...the racket from Sos' parties tends to be stratospheric....

My first Bloscar!
Well firstly I'd like to thank the members of Symphonic Discord for my first blog award (Blo-Oscar!) or four! Its so kind of yous! And when I figure how to get them to my side bar they will be on display! (http://symphonic-discord.blogspot.com)
This morning I sowed more lettuce and cress, planted out basil, parsley, bay, two pots of sunflower seedlings, and some left-over pansies. I picked veg to take to the folks, and then spent several hours quilting. I visited the folks for a while during the afternoon, taking them some sunflower seedlings as well as the veg. Then I took the scissors to my hair as it was driving me nuts:
B decided to bake a cake this afternoon, but it was rather unsuccessful, not like her. Still, it tastes good!
Yesterday afternoon Sos and I went to the Crafter's Basket in Cliffoney with two of her friends, and got her Debs dress fabric. Its pinky mauve sateen with a pink tull overlay, and she wants tiny silver bows scattered across the front. Goodness help me! I am NOT looking forward to making it, and the fabric was rather more expensive than I anticipated. The Hub said its the last 'posh frock' she'll get from us until she can afford to buy her own! Are we very bad parents? She does have good taste though, and a nice figure, not like dressmaking for yours dumpty truly here!
Afterwards we stopped off at Streedagh beach to walk, which was lovely, but I didn't have my camera.
And that's all really, not much to show for two days. Perhaps I'll get the quilt finished at the weekend.
