The Shower Wars!

So, you've heard of The Bride Wars...The Restaurant Wars...Star Wars... now there are 'The Shower Wars'!

Not heard of them yet? Well they go something like this:-

Mom: We're leaving at 4o'clock.

Girls: Its only five to three.

Mom: We're leaving at 4 o'clock and you are all still in your pjs.

Girls:....silence...thoughtful silence...profound silence...worried silence...study the clock silence...then all three together: Bags I first shower!

Eldest: Me first! staggers down passageway richocheting off the walls, turns on shower, leaps in and undressess (yes, really!)

Middlest: simultaneoulsly I don't need a shower Ha! strolls away to get dressed.

Youngest: simultaneoulsy, and shoving Middlest out of the way I'm faster, bags me first! tears up stairs

Sound of downstairs shower and shrieks laughter, then upstairs shower goes on, water comes to a halt downsatair, howls of annoyance and Its not fair!

Eldest storms out to stairwell, dripping, and yells at Youngest, Middlest in bedroom humming loudly...

You get the idea, yes?

That's 'The Shower Wars' for you!

New Improved Pleasant Pheasant Alarm Clock!

We appear to have gone straight from Winter to high Summer here and skipped Spring entirely...not that I'm complaining but the flora and fauna are utterly discombobulated.
Hence the fact that the last few mornings we've been woken at 5.something am by our local cock pheasant standing on a stone outside the bedroom window and screeching his head off. Now I do realise there are many ways to advertise that one is available for an elegant mate but Janey Mac! if we all did that the neighbours wouldn't half complain!

He is rather a gorgeous specimen and I hope he lives long and prospers, but not outside my bedroom window! I suppose though, that if I was as gorgeous as that I'd stand on a rock and advertise myself too...actually, on second thoughts, if I had a speckled chest and long tail I'll be more likely to hide! I tried to get a photo of him this morning and was out stalking him in my PJ's but no luck. Perhaps tomorrow...if Marey Horse doesn't kick him into oblivion first as he was seriously aggravating her this morning and she was snorting and humphing at him big time!

Other news?
BBug is back at school this morning- minus her Easter Geography homework which she left too late to finish.

Dilly is home for a few days. Last week she was finally diagnosed with what's been wrong with her since last August, causing her to fall over, have no strength, and be in almost constant pain- Fibromyalgia, a form of Arthritis. NOT what you expect at age 20.
At least it counts as an official disability so she can have a writer for her exams and extensions for written work. It has brought her 'normal' life to a complete halt though and she is obviously having a bit of bother getting her head around it. Still, at least we know what it is, the alternatives could have been far, far worse.

Travelling Sister returned home Friday safe and sound, looking disgustingly healthy and tanned.
She brought me a Bolivian Doll- its about 5" tall and she says they really do mostly dress like this. Interesting huh?

Big Sister moved house/ flat on Thursday and Friday, just within Dublin, and is delighted to be unpacking all her things which have been in storage since she returned from South America in the Summer.
And the Hub cleared and tidied the shed out on Saturday- not before time, mark you!
So, from snow and gales to high Summer in a fortnight...and I've just answered the phone to my Dad: 'Hello hello? This is the Mountain Rescue- do you know that you have a sheep up on your roof?'
What next!

Of Sisters and Mishaps

Here's a misuse of the blogging medium for you:

Last night our eldest daughter was looking at recent posts to catch up on the home news. When she saw the state of the sitting room she texted her sisters with directions to tidy up at once! (They ignored her!)

Sos was reading an old magazine of Mum's this morning and found a recipe for chocolate vodka drink...yeurch! She wants a party after New Year...well she was told in no uncertain terms she can buy the vodka if she wants it- I'm NOT. Anyhow I don't approve of spirits at house parties...in any shape or form!!

B was ready for school early this morning so was dumped pronto and I was parked at the Supermarket by 8.30am. Shopped, was at folks for breakfast by 9.30, and at school by 11.20 to gather and sing with the children who are singing for the Methodist Service next Wednesday. It went pretty well. Sometimes its nice to work with a small group and I think they enjoyed it too.

Finished about 12.45 and set off for home....and then realised I should have had two more people in the car...Turned round, went to park and managed to hit the school gate, wedged the car against it so now I've a big scrawb of red paint along the side...Ah well, things happen I guess...

Saturday Sisters

What do you do when your sister comes for the weekend?

You make 'yeti foot shaped' pancakes (I quote!) while arguing non-stop and singing all the Disney songs you know!

That is Dilly and B's idea of a good morning!

The last few days I've been working on a doll for a little girl. Its my 'Poppy' pattern, I was going to use the 'Penny' pattern but was afraid the doll would turn out longer than the little girl!

I have so enjoyed doing it- there is a vast difference between making a doll for someone in particular and just making one in the hopes someone will like it. I didn't realise it would make a difference to me as I made her. I don't name my dolls though, that should be the prerogative of the receiver I think. Anyhow, its been very enjoyable and now I have to hide and post her before B steals her! Sos just phoned to say she is on the bus home. Due to the flooding buses are running late with a lot of de-tours, so there's no knowing when she will arrive. Looks like she won't see Dilly after all, which is a shame. She is also missing a post-pancake game of 'Risk'-world domination...perhaps that's a good thing?

On television last night was the 'Late Late Toy Show' which is one of the highlights of National TV here, and gives rise to endless discussion. It is meant to be an advertising gimmick but of course this is Ireland so it is seen as entertainment and a source of hilarity. As they cook, the girls are going over the highlights and having a great time! The Irish 'gift of the gab' is alive and well and in my kitchen...
